Abstract
The paper reports on the current activity of an EU funded Research Project named OMASES that concerns a preventive approach to Dynamic Security Assessment (DSA) and Control of large power systems. The aims of the project are presented. A short description of the hardware and software architecture for implementing on-line DSA are recalled. Some hints about the theoretical background for the specific applications within OMASES (TSA - Transient Stability Assessment, VSA - Voltage Stability Assessment, TS - Training Simulator and MS - Market Simulator) are described. Preliminary results of the prototyping phase are commented.
